Cast iron victorian bath

We have a great deal to thank the Victorians for. Great architecture, sensible town planning, great visions of society and of course the glorious free standing bath tub. Where would society have been without the cast iron Victorian bath. This beautifully made product, as with all sanitation was at the heart of metropolitan reform during this age. Remember this was a time when huge numbers of the U.K. population had left the countryside to work in factories. Vast, sprawling cities burgeoned at this influx and naturally living conditions became squalid as a result. Very quickly an affluent middle class emerged and houses were built to satisfy this demand. These homes incorporated the latest ideas of water heating, gas lighting and naturally the cast iron Victorian bath.

REQUEST OUR BROCHURE

Manufacturers of cast iron Victorian baths sprung up in most cities and often had similar designs of tub. Most mounted on the ubiquitous ‘ball and claw’ feet but some more continental styles emerged. These were symmetrical, double ended in form and sometimes mounted on a cast iron plinth.

To pay homage to this great era, Albion have created the most stunning range of cast iron Victorian bath replicas. These baths are made using a unique ‘cold casting’ process and use a material called Iso-Enamel. This is a synthetic material not to be confused with inferior acrylic. Please contact out sales department to find out more about this exciting material.
